The Architectural firm of Peter S. Gerdin was established in 1983 for the purpose of offering architectural, planning & solar design services for projects in the Lake Tahoe area of Northern California.
The success of our projects is a direct result of creative thinking, genuine respect for the land, professional integrity, and a commitment to making our client's dream become reality.Contact Us
Our design philosophy is simple...each parcel of land has a unique "micro-climate" which includes its solar exposure, topography, and environmental setting. The design of the building to be placed on the land must be responsive to the natural opportunities present. Concurrently, the client's program, ideas, personality and budget constraints are incorporated into our designs. The completed structure functions naturally providing as sense of place, comfort, security, and delight.
The scale & scope of the projects has grown steadily over the years and the geographic area in which projects have been completed now includes California, Nevada and Colorado. Within this website you will find several examples of our work. Please feel free to contact us for a brochure.
Broad experience in construction administration at a variety of scales has lead to a realistic understanding of building methods, sequencing, and cost components.
The personalities of our clients are reflected in the designs of our custom homes. All designs are unique; there are no repetitive plans or styles.
The special requirements of Commercial structures including navigation of the approval process has been met successfully in several examples.
Energy-conscious design, environmentally responsive planning and renewable energy utilization are key issues in a sustainable development.
Recycling of older buildings is important and makes economic sense. The historic value of structures is often overlooked.
